Description

Center for Molecular Fingerprinting (CMF) is developing cutting-edge femtosecond laser technologies to advance electric-field molecular fingerprinting techniques based on field-resolved infrared spectroscopy. The laser spectrometers developed at CMF will be utilized in large-scale clinical studies to target disease detection (https://www.lasers4life.de/). For that human samples along with clinical information have been collected, to perform high-throughput measurements that will encompass several tens of thousands of sample measurements per year within the CMF laboratories. The research is performed in close collaboration with the attoworld laboratories led by Prof. Krausz at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU, https://www.lmu.de/en/) and the Max-Planck Institute of Quantum Optics (MPQ, https://www.attoworld.de/). The aim of the CMF operations is to apply next-generation laser spectrometers for the analysis of human blood samples to non-invasively detect disease and monitor health.

The successful professional will work in an interdisciplinary team in direct collaboration with scientists and technicians from CMF and LMU at the Laboratory for Extreme Photonics (www.attoworld.de) on the research campus Garching, north of Munich, Germany a large-scale high-power laser research facility in be realized with trans-European cooperation.

The goal for this position is to transform the latest research results into a technically mature and reliable laser-based measurement system with unprecedented performance. The duration of the position is initially 2 years, with the possibility of extension. For the first two years, the place of work will be predominantly in Garching, Germany.
